DEPENDENCE OF LH GENERATED CURRENTS ON THE SPECTRAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE RF SOURCE
DISTRIBUTION OF THE RF SOURCE The current which can be maintained by rf waves against the collisional drag depends on the shape of the spectral distribution of their energy, i.e., the quasilinear diffusion coefficient. This distribution, in turn, is the result of a competition between collisional and Landau damping on the one hand and the power source with given spectral distribution on the other. The results of a theoretical investigation concerning different LH power sources are presented. We show that it is possible to explain certain features of the existing LH experiments.
