EEC PROGRAMME ON REMOTE SENSING
The JRC Research and Development Programme in Remote Sensing is oriented towards the following EEC sectorial policy areas: Marine Environmental Protection (detection of sea pollution), Aid to Development (Agricultural resources) and Agricultural Land Use (less favoured areas). There are four main activities which are structured into projects: Coastal Transport of Pollution, Oil Characterization by laser induced fluorescence, Rice production in Mali Guinea, and Rural Land Use. In addition large exercises of oil detection at sea are periodically organised with the participation of Institutes and Organizations, of the Member Countries. The JRC approach is based on the organization of internal/external collaboration around each project, where the Ispra's teams develop their own research line. Although the project's goals consist in developing a method for the users, advanced scientific topics are included in the research. The most significant results obtained during the ongoing JRC multiannual activity plan are reported. Trends of future development are summarized.
