DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPUTER MODEL FOR THE SELECTION OF BOILER PLANTS FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF A LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION
This report describes execution and results of the Boiler selection project. The system-boundary of the program is given, and for the calculation model the theoretical relations and basic information established. The relations concern plant behaviour and economical evaluation. The computer program developed from them allows to calculate energy consumption and exploitation costs of a large number of different boiler plants. To assess the hourly heat demand made and the proper data on the boiler plant an extensive measurements programme was carried out in an existing boiler plant. It resulted, among other things, in a new correction method for the standstill losses. Then the installation was used for verification of the Boiler selection computer program. Here a number of measurements were recalculated by the computer program and the results compared. The agreement turned out to be very good. The Boiler selection program and other methods for the calculation of energy consumption are compared and various examples of calculations with the computer program shown.
