JET PAPERS PRESENTED AT IAEA 10TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PLASMA PHYSICS AND CONTROLLED NUCLEAR FUSION RESEARCH
This report summarizes the experimental contributions on alternate magnetic systems, in all about 50 papers. A concise discussion of the main themes presented and of aspects requiring further work are given for open-ended systems, stellarators, bumpy focus, axisymmetric current carrying torodial systems (reversed field pinches, and spheromak and field reversed pinches), field reversed configurations, and plasma focus. In the concluding remarks some highlights and problems accompanying the development of fusion research are touched upon, a short assessment of the status-quo given and major concerns for future research delineated.
