Abstract

The purpose of this work is to define the experimental conditions for catalytic hydroliquefaction of woody material. At this stage of the study a new analytical method for the characterisation of the products coming from the liquefaction has been developed and is described. This method permits separation and evaluation of five classes of products we define as "light oil", asphaltenic compounds, residues, phenolic compounds and neutral compounds. A second aspect of the project deals with a systematic investigation of the influence of experimental parameters such as temperature, amounts of catalyst, H-2S pressure on the catalytic liquefaction of wood, using to date the same type of catalyst and solvent. Later we hope to test the efficiency of several types of catalysts for the liquefaction.
