Abstract

The Istituto di Metrologia "G. Colonnetti" (IMGC) has constructed a prototype six-component dynamometer which operates in compression and whose capacity is 100 kN in the direction of its vertical axis. This dynamometer is designed to measure parasitic components (side forces and moments) on force machines due to departure from geometrical and mechanical symmetry of the machine, interaction between load cell and machine, defective force transmission and elastic deformation of supports. The main objective of six-component measurements are the improvement of the performances of force machined by reducing defects and bringing parasitic effects under control. This technical report (vol I) describes the calibration of the dynamometer carried out at IMGC and at ONERA, Modane (F), and the determination of its metrological characteristics (repeatability, reproducibility, calibration factors). The Appendix (vol II) contains tables of readout data obtained during calibration.
