Abstract

An electron cyclotron resonance heating experiment has been undertaken by the EUR-FOM and the EUR-CEA Associations. Since September 1985, three 60 GHz gyrotrons are connected to the TFR tokamak at Fontenay-aux-Roses. Each of the gyrotrons can deliver more than 200 kW of microwave power during pulses up to 100 ms. Recently, the high voltage power supply and modulating system were modified. Operating characteristics of the gyrotrons were measured and different shapes of RF output were produced. New protective devices were installed in the control system. The minicomputer system that takes care of the data acquisition by means of CAMAC digitizers is extended with new communication links.
