Résumé

The purpose of the study is to specify the interest in using the erosion of cavitation in order to remove a fine layer of material from an irradiated surface after dismantling of a nuclear power station. Compared with the other existing procedures for mechanical erosion, the advantage of the cavitation erosion is that it does not produce solid or liquid aerosols. Several cavitation appliances have been devised and tested on different surfaces to be eroded: aluminium, stainless steel, plexiglas, paints. The process has shown to be sufficiently effective to allow the measurement of the rate of waste of the materials as hard as inoxidizable steel with relatively modest trial pressure of 60 bars. The qualitative tests of the procedure, using a supply tube under a pressure of between 300 and 600 bars and moving on the contaminated surface, can now be planned.
