SAFETY OF DIVING OPERATIONS. PROCEEDINGS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM HELD IN LUXEMBOURG ON MAY 7-8, 1985.
Before 1985, the Commission of the European Communities and the European Communities and the European Diving Technology Committee had organized two international symposia. The first was held in 1978 when the medical aspects of diving accidents were considered, ? and the second was in 1980 whenthe programme was oriented towards the technical and human factors. Diving is a rapidly evolving technology, and national authorities continue to issue a great proliferation of regulations and codes of practice. Thus it was considered appropriate to organize a third symposium to facilitate an exchange of views on an international basis between government agencies, representatives of industry and divers to discuss the progress made since the last meetings with a view to reducing still further the frequency of accidents in a whole range of diving operations.
