POSSIBILITY AND LIMITS OF DIRECT MEASUREMENTS OF INTERNAL RADIOCONTAMINATION
In this work are briefly examined the direct measuring techniques of internal radiocontamination by means of the Whole Body Counter. In particular, are described the constructional characteristics of the shielding and of the detector of the counter, the capabilities of the various kinds of detectors, the calibration methods and the sensitivity of the device for some radionuclides very important in the radioisotope application. Finally, is presented a short description of new detectors which are produced by the most recent techniques.
