THE LAW AND PRACTICE RELATING TO POLLUTION CONTROL IN THE MEMBER STATES OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES - RECENT DEVELOPMENTS
In 1982 a series of reports was published on behalf of the Commission of the European Communities, reviewing the law and practice relating to pollution control in the then ten member states of the Community. The series presented a description of the law at June 30th 1981. Each member state report and a comparative study was prepared by one or more national authors with specific expertise in the environmental law of their own countries. The series was prepared under contract to the CEC by Environmental Resources Limited (ERL) and the national authors were commissioned by ERL as subcontractors. In 1984 ERL was asked by the CEC to prepare an updating supplement for each member state and for the comparative study. This book presents the eleven supplements in a single volume; it provides a brief description of changes up to March 31st 1985 and identifies future plans where possible. Some later legislation identified during the finalization of the report may also be included. This updating volume was prepared under contract to the Commission of the European Communities. The work was undertaken as a research study by Environmental Resources Limited. Since the national authors of the 1981 series were not involved in this research ERL takes full responsibility for this work. While every effort has been made to achieve an accurate and complete record of relevant changes between June 1981 and March 1985, the reader is advised to refer directly to the laws and regulations for specific details.
