Abstract

This publication contains the proceedings of a workshop held in Dublin on 24 to 26 September 1985, under the auspices of the Commission of the European Communities as part of the EEC programme of coordination of research on Agro-Food and at the request of the Agro-Food Programme Committee. The subject under consideration at the workshop was "Quality improvement by crop production". This workshop was the first of the new Agro-Food programme as defined under the Council decision 84/641 EEC of 1983. The Commission of the European Community may grant financial support of research projects concerned with improvement of the quality of agricultural products oriented towards human consumption. The aim of this Agro-Food programme is to support the objectives of the Common Agricultural Policy (Article 39 of the Treaty) related to the improvement to meet the requirements of consumers and food processors. This meeting concentrated on theme 1 of the call for offer i.e. crop production and especially on the follow-up area of crop quality in terms of analysis and also on methodology relating to these aspects. The three crop areas concerned in the workshop were: - salad crops - soft fruit - top fruit
