Abstract

The study of the distribution of phosphorus (orthophosphate, total soluble phosphate and suspended matter associated phosphorus) in a bay of Lake Maggiore (N. Italy) has taken into account the major input sources and the time - space variability in both water and sediments. First results point out the importance of the interactions between dissolved and particulate forms in controlling the pathway of this nutrient, and as a consequence, the availability - consumption by autotrophic organisms.
