Abstract

This report presents the VAK III seals and sealing system, which have been used over a period of two years at the Kahl nuclear facility (Federal Republic of Germany), where field tests and feasibility studies were conducted in order to offer a possible solution for the sealing of LWR fuel assemblies. It has been prepared with the aim of an assessment study to be done at the IAEA. It gives all characteristics and technical descriptions for: (i) the sealing principle, (ii) the seal construction, (iii) the operating tools, (iv) the data processing, (v) the drawings, (vi) the publications related to that seal.
