Abstract

The research activities described in this report aim at the development of an absorption heat pump intended for industrial application. A search for suitable working pairs led to the choice of trifluorethanolquinoline. The necessary thermodynamic and thermal properties of the mixture are determined. In particular solubility data is calculated by making use of a newly developed thermodynamic model. A thermodynamic cycle is chosen for the heat pump and performance calculation are performed. The heat pump components are described and sized. The economics of a heat pump based upon the Quinolinetrifluorethanol mixture compared with heat pumps using other pairs is determined.
