ELASTIC-PLASTIC FRACTURE MECHANICS. PROCEEDINGS OF THE 4TH ADVANCED SEMINAR ON FRACTURE MECHANICS, JOINT RESEARCH CENTRE, ISPRA, ITALY, 24-28 OCTOBER 1983
This book contains the texts of the lectures and workshops of the 4th Advanced Seminar on Fracture Mechanics (ASFM 4) held at the Joint Research Centre, Ispra, on 24-28 October 1983. Elastic-Plastic Fracture Mechanics was again the favoured theme; to allow an in-depth treatment, it was decided to concentrate on EPFM under monotonic loading and time- independent material properties, excluding cyclic loading and creep. However, dynamic loading was considered to be an important matter and two lectures were inserted on this topic. The lectures and workshops presented here have been revised and updated to make them better suited to book form. The four workshops illustrate the four design methods discussed at ASFM 4: the R6 method of CEGB, the EPRI method, the EnJ method and the COD design curve method. Each workshop consists of general presentation example problems and discussion of the solutions. Fifteen lectures are presented. They cover experimental, theoretical and numerical aspects, micromechanisms and continuum mechanics and also the concept of damage and its use in local fracture criteria.
