Abstract

In the framework of the control of nuclear materials I.A.E.A. and Euratom Safeguard Directorate collect small samples of nuclear materials at facilities; the samples are packed and shipped to laboratories for analysis. Great delays are encountered in the transport of samples. The most important reasons of delays are: - import-export licenses - insurance cover for the transport - shipment approvals - lack of approved or validated containers - execution of transport. This paper gives an analysis of these delays and suggestions for actions to be taken to facilitate these transports.
