Abstract

The international discussion on the use of reduced enrichment in research and test reactors has resulted in a number of planned conversions together with the supporting R&D activities. A new facet was added by the proposed rule in the United States aiming at conversion of many small and medium power domestic reactors. This paper outlines some of the differences between the US and the European situation and attempts to formulate common points.
