Abstract

An array of Michelson Interferometers, Fabry-Perot interferometers and a 12-channel grating polychromator are used to measure electron cyclotron emission on JET. The Michelson interferometers measure the spectrum of the emission across the range 70-350 GHz (typically f-ce to 4f-ce) while the other instruments measure its time dependence at fixed frequencies. Each Fabry-Perot measures at one frequency in the range 100-200 GHz and the polychromator observes simultaneously 12 frequencies in a band about 30 GHz wide in the range 80-400 GHz. The plasma is viewed along 10 chords in the poloidal cross- section. The measurements yield the time and space dependence of the electron temperature with an absolute calibration derived from large area blackbody sources and microwave sources of known power. The instruments, the calibration and applications of the measurement will be discussed. Progress towards the first measurement of 2- dimensional profiles will be reported.
