Abstract

The present volume II of the European Solar Radiation Atlas deals with global and diffuse radiation on inclined surfaces for monthly means, for clear sky and for overcast conditions. Because these data are not currently measured by the meteorological networks, they had to be calculated from other data. The basic input data used for computation was taken from volume I. Unlike volume I which covers 30 countries, and present Volume is restricted to the 10 EC countries and 9 neighbouring countries in Europe for which an adequate data base was available. The Atlas is based on data from 102 stations in these countries. 102 tables show the monthly mean incident radiation, and another 102 the transmitted monthly mean global radiation through vertical single and double clear glazing for many orientations. The radiation tables for windows are provided to support practical applications of the "Methode 5000" for passive solar designs in various regions of Europe. It is the first time such comprehensive and detailed tables of inclined surface solar radiation have been made available anywhere in the world. Lastly a short introduction into the methodologies employed for the production of the tables and maps is given.
