Abstract

An account is given of the scope for industrial use of agricultural produce in industry, particularly in food, animal feed, fibres, forest products and chemicals. It is concluded that considerable scope exists. However in order to take fuller advantage of the industrial opportunities for agriculture, closer cooperation is needed between the farmer and the processor leading to the design of processes that make full use of crops that have been specially designed to fit the process.
