Abstract

The report summarizes the results of six laboratories who calibrated accelerometers from three different makers. The range of frequency covered extended from 10 Hz to 10 kHz. The results of these four laboratories who used laser interferometry agreed to within 0.5% in the range of frequency from 40 to 6300 Hz. One of the three accelerometers although produced to serve as a transfer standard was the cause of difficulties: - instability: there was a drift of 1% at some particular period during circulation; - errors of 0.5% can be made because of its sensitivity to mechanical mounting conditions.
