Abstract

A model based on fluidodynamic approximations and a numerical solution of the advection - diffusion equation can take into account effects due to orographic barriers, surface roughness and thermal gradients (land, sea, urban heat island). The model has been applied to a densely industrialized area (Fos-Berre, France) to simulate air mass circulation in a weak wind regime and the calculated trajectories are compared to observed ones.
