SOLAR HEATED SWIMMING POOL "DE BAAN" TE GOUDERAK - DEMONSTRATION PROJECT
The "Stichting Zwembad Gouderak" has completed a demonstration project as a part of the CEC demonstration program on solar heated swimming pools comprising 52 pools distributed all over the Community. "De Baan" open air swimming pool in Gouderak was built in 1971. The total water surface amounts to 688 m**2 while the water volume is 820 m**3. When closed, the pool is covered by a polypropylene blanket. Near the pool, 96 Robinson collectors of 3.6 m2 each have been installed on the ground in 12 units of 8 panels each, making a total of 345 m**2. These absorber type panels have been made of polypropylene by Robinson of Winchester, England. The pipes are of hard polythene, Von Roll system. When sufficient solar energy beams in, the solar detector switches the butterfly valves in the piping system, so that the water from the pool flows directly through the panels via the filter system. The solar collectors have been in operation since the 1981 swimming season with excellent results. In May 1983, a two year measuring program was started: The solar collector installation supplied 270 kWh/m**2 (25.4-10.9.1983) and 261 kWh/m**2(17.4.-8.9.1984) respectively; from a technical point of view a very good result indeed.
