RESOLUTION DES PROBLEMES DE PERTES DE CIRCULATION, PARTIELLES OU TOTALES, EN FORAGE GEOTHERMIQUE
The aim of the project was to design and develop a system for plugging up macrofissures or even fractures that are sometimes encountered in non-sedimentary formations and that cannot be plugged up with conventional products. Research was resumed on the basis of the principles governing manufacture of hydraulic pipes that must withstand internal pressure. The wire braiding or sheeting that gives such pipes their mechanical strength are laid at an angle corresponding to an equilibrium. If the wiring is done at a narrower angle than the angle of equilibrium, this decreases the length while increasing the diameter. This latter phenomenon is the basis of the manufacturing of the system. Likewise, during the changing of shape and up to equilibrium, the meshes of the netting have a known size, so that a judicious choice can be made of the plugging agent. Make-up tests showed that the actual phenomenon effectively occurred as calculations had led us to suppose, provided that a specific component, classified among fibrous and resistant plugging agents, is added to plugging agents found on the market.
