STUDY OF THE CORROSION RESISTANCE OF NICKEL AND NICKEL BASE ALLOYS IN WATER ELECTROLYZERS WORKING AT 200 DEGREES C
The aim of this program was to check the corrosion resistance of Nickel 200, 201 and several nickel base alloys (600, Monel 400) in conditions typical of aniolyte circuits in electrolyzers working at 200 or 160 degrees C. A particular emphasis was given to the effect of welding on the corrosion properties. The results lead to design and operation recommendations : avoid or minimize crevice zones and still water line keep electrolyzers clean of deposits, carefully monitor the surface conditions particularly during first starting periods.
