Abstract

This volume contains the proceedings of a conference, jointly organized by the Commission of the European Communities, Directorate-General Information Market and Innovation and the Senate of Berlin, and held at Berlin, 13-15 February 1985. The opening session contained reports on science parks in various parts of the world; the papers contributed in working groups A1 to A4 focused on: science parks and innovation centres; and: finance for the operation of science parks and for the creation of new enterprises. The contribution of a second cluster of working groups (B1 to B4) were concerned with: Regional impact of science parks and innovation centres (care studies); the selection of entrepreneurs, training programmes and advisory services for entrepreneurs; case studies on the development of young technology-based firms in science parks and innovation centres; and: how to solve the national and international + scope for joint operations between firms, national and transnational cooperation between innovation centres. The volume concludes with reports of all eight working groups and with extensive resume of its contents in German and French.
