INTEGRATED PEST CONTROL IN CITRUS GROVES. PROCEEDINGS OF AN EXPERTS MEETING HELD AT ACIREALE (I) ON MARCH 26-29, 1985.
This volume collects together the contributions, the experiences, and the ideas which have been presented in an experts" meeting on the theme of the protection of citrus groves. The occasion of the meeting permitted researchers in various disciplines, and from various countries, to tackle just one subject of research, the citrus fruit, in the context of a single specific topic, the defence of the crop in the light of the most recent knowledge gained. The meeting was divided into working sessions which considered basic research on damaging insects, mites, nematodes, weeds, fungal, bacterial and viral diseases, as well as the application of control techniques, subdivided into biological, biotechnical, chemical, cultural and genetic, all of which were proposed from an ecological point of view regarding the citrus agro-ecosystem. Particular attention was paid to methods and strategies of integrated control, taking into account also the influence of some phytochemicals on the physiology of the citrus crop; in addition economic considerations were discussed. This work intends to make widely available the most recent knowledge on new phytosanitary techniques and on the situations in the different countries, with regard to control measures. It certainly constitutes a point of reference for all the knowledge acquired in this specific sector of the defence of citrus groves against their noxious agents.
