Abstract

This report relates to the second Anglo - Danish research programme, September 1980 to March 1984, which had as its primary goal the fabrication and evaluation of small test cells based upon thick film technology with lithium anodes and solid electrolytes, either composites or polymers. A maximum operating temperature of 200 degrees C was taken as a target for these cells. At the same time the necessity of continuing materials evaluation and basic electrochemical studies was recognized and this work was carried out in parallel with cell construction and testing. The report does not aim to review, comprehensively, all of the work carried out within the second research programme; rather, it provides an outline of the work and focuses attention, where appropriate, on major experimental achievements. Full details are contained in the individual, six-monthly, progress reports and periodic reviews have been presented as papers to the CEC Contractors' Meetings. A final summary report of the project has also been produced.
