AN EXPERIMENTAL AUTOMATIC HYDROCLIMATOLOGIC STATION WITH DCP TRANSMISSION IN BORDO, REPUBLIC OF GUINEA (WEST AFRICA)
Since April 1985, when the automatic station started functioning, two major defects affected the operation, one defect was caused by the deformation of the plastic housing of the central processor and the subsequent entering of humidity into the circuits, the other defect was caused by a battery failure. Both defects were caused indirectly by excessive heat and humidity. They were easily resolved by installing new and better components. Although some minor problems remain to be solved, mainly related to sensor endurance and calibration, until now the concept as a whole, inserted into the Meteosat Data Collection System, has proven to be valid and worthwhile to be considered for extension into a network.
