Abstract

Muratori SpA, one of the most well-known Italian manufacturers of agricultural machines including steerage hoes, rotary harrows and cutters/choppers which are used throughout the EEC, in the United States of America and in several African and Asiatic countries, illustrate the considerations involved in their commitment to develop a machine for harvesting pruning wood. A brief description of the machine follows, including the various phases of construction and testing. Several concise charts present the technical and economic data gathered during operational testing in different countries and on different types of pruning wood. The conclusion reports future prospects for utilizing the project, principally linked to the creation of a widespread mentality which seeks to make full use of all the possible secondary energy sources, even before considering the intrinsic qualities of the machine, which are doubtlessly quite exceptional, as demonstrated by the unconditionally favourable judgement of its first buyers. Furthermore, this represents an important political, economic and educational problem to which the EEC can provide a considerable contribution.
