Abstract

This report provides a survey of the JET Joint Undertaking. It informs on the organs of the JET Joint Undertaking, places JET in the Euratom and International fusion programme, and devotes a long section to the description of the construction and development of JET. The next chapter on the operation of JET contains a summary of JET operations in 1984, and informs on activities concerning plasma optimisation, energy and particle confinement, instabilities and disruptions, impurities and radiation losses, plasma boundary phenomena, graphite limiters, and plasma position and current control; an overview of the organisation of JET operations is also given. Further sections provide insight into JET theory related problems and introduce the members and organization of JET, and its administration. In appendices the reader is informed on the JET executive committee, its scientific council, its Euratom and UKAEA staff, and lastly: on articles, reports and conference papers published during 1984.
