Abstract

This report is in two parts. The first deals with an experimental study in a laboratory on granite from Auriat in France. The second part looks at a theoretic approach to the behaviour of a rocky massif under the effect of a punctual thermic source. The first study comes within the framework of present research of possibilities for deep storage of radioactive waste in continental crystalline formations. Particular attention is paid to the study of fissuration of the rock at high temperatures (20 degrees C < T <or= 200 degrees C) and high mechanical constraint (up to P = 250 MPa).
