Abstract

The work carried out in this first phase of the development of diaphasic expansion thermal systems, has lead to the following results: + A technical and economic analysis of the process has come up with potential costs (excluding research) varying from 3000 to 6000 francs/kWe for actual, representative sites. + The physics of the diaphasic expansion of brine has been modalized, and a measurement tool for the turbine modalized, and a measurement tool for the turbine injectors has been perfected. Trials of different injectors, on a specific bench have enabled the qualification of the influence of different parameters. + A trial turbine has been put in operation on a testing bench conceived and set up in collaboration with the BOUVIER workshops. The net yield, in the present system, is 20% for four injectors and 23% for six. An analysis of the different sources of loss has enabled the description of different techniques for improving performance. The next phase of development, during which these improvements will be put into operation, should make it possible to achieve net yields of between 40 and 50%.
