Abstract

This report is the first working package of the TET 6 research project within the FAST programme, entitled: Distance working in urban and rural development. It is a survey by four European countries on attitudes and acceptance of about 10 000 people questioned on electronic equipment and homeworking. Since new technology distance working can potentially change the lives of many Europeans, or even the structure of society as a whole, it is essential that hard empirical data be obtained to establish a solid basis for research development and eventual policy making. The first subsequent section sets out the analytical framework in the light of which the presentation of survey results has to be seen. Then the structure of the survey is described. On this basis, the results of our investigation are discussed. The report ends with a brief summary of findings and implications. This report is presented in the English and French languages in one volume.
