Abstract

One dimensional outflow of a gas into a vacuum in cylindrical and spherical geometry is considered. Using stationary boundary conditions, the filling of space with gas is simulated numerically and modelled analytically by combining steady state and self similar solutions. The impact on laser generated pellet coronas is pointed out and the influence of the flow divergence on the ion velocity spectrum is discussed.
