Abstract

The decay channel taken into account can satisfactorily explain many experimental findings concerning the development of the parametric instabilities, despite the many hypotheses involved. Thus it can be regarded as the main responsibility of the observed decay process. In particular it characterizes the decay as an edge plasma phenomenon, as experimentally found, emphasizing the importance of understanding the behaviour of the plasma border, especially when the plasma current is changed.
