Abstract

This final report describes the principal findings from a one year research project completed during the period April 1984 to June 1985 under contracts to the DoE and CEC. The work continues that carried out under previous contracts and complements that being studied under a series of parallel contracts concerned with the geological disposal of radioactive waste. The experiments described in this report are of a generic nature, and form part of a larger programme to examine the feasibility of utilising argillaceous formations as host rocks for radioactive waste repositories. This study belongs to Research Area 3 of the CEC coordinated project MIRAGE on Migration of Radionuclides in the Geosphere.
