RADIATION PROTECTION THEMES LINKED TO THE DECOMMISSIONING AND THE DEMOLITION OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS - INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES
After an introduction concerning the activities of the international organizations (IAEA, OECD, CEC) in the field of decommissioning and on related subjects, like the management of radioactive waste, a number of specific questions is treated. These items are the methodology for evaluating the radiological consequences of disposal and the measurement of low level activity waste, the criteria for the timing of decommissioning operations, the situation of facilities for final disposal of waste, and an overview over institutions in charge of managing radioactive waste. A discussion of criteria and recommendations for exempt values in disposal of waste, in particular for recycling of scrap is added.
