Abstract

For the performance assessment and training of the use of NDA and C/S techniques, special laboratories are being established at JRC, Ispra, for the handling of bulk quantities of irradiated and non-irradiated nuclear materials. A short description of the general layout of these facilities is presented and their intended use for safeguards applications. The main principles for the procurement and characterization of the nuclear material (PERLA standards) are described.
