DUAL NETWORK - COMPUTER AIDED SERVICES FOR PERSON TO PERSON COMMUNICATION
In order to activate the discussion, two R/D initiatives undertaken at the JRC are first presented. One deals with a private message handling system and the other with a campus area network. The rationale behind those projects is presented. This leads to the observation that person to person communication should be integrated into the advanced informatics tools which are today offered to the user. This requires a new dimension be added to the possibility for distributed programming which in turn asks for additional features be offered by both the informatic and network systems. A number of R/D subjects are then identified which are expected to contribute to this evolution.
