Résumé

As agricultural production is essentially a dynamic phenomenon, appropriate methods must be applied to ensure that crop development is followed. As agricultural production is the result of the accumulation of products of photosynthesis at different levels of organisation of natural systems (cell, plant, field, region... country), the observations must take account of the spatial distribution of the process. The practical limitations of any observation system must lead to a realistic compromise between the different types of resolution desired (temporal, spatial and spectral resolution). The optimisation of the existing means must be guided by a certain pragmatism.
