THE PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION OF SOLIDIFIED MELT DEBRIS FROM MOLTEN FUEL-COOLANT INTERACTION EXPERIMENTS
The statistical distribution of debris from molten fuelcoolant interactions (MFCIs) is examined. It is shown that a wide range of fragmentation processes, including MFCIs, produce debris which has an upper limit lognormal (ULLN) distribution. Fitted distributions are presented for 20 experiments using 24 kg of uranium dioxide/molybdenum melt quenched in water.
