Abstract

The asymptotic expansion of the exact nonrelativistic electronion Bremsstrahlung emissivity for temperatures much larger than the Rydberg energy is derived. The ascending series expansion of the Born relativistic electronion emissivity for temperatures much lower than the electron rest mass energy is also obtained. It is shown that the two results combine to give the electron ion emissivity for temperatures of interest in fusion plasmas. Adding the Born nonrelativistic electronelectron emissivity, we obtain a simple formula which describes the total bremsstrahlung emissivity with a precision better than 1% between Te = 0.7 keV and Te = 25 keV (for Z =1).
