CRYSTAL AND MOLECULAR STRUCTURE OF A NOVEL ORGANOACTINIDE COMPLEX - (U(C-5H-5)-3(NCCH-3)-2) F5F1(TH(C5H-5)C1-4(NCCH-3))
Reaction of UCp3C1 (Cp = cyclopentadienyl) with ThC14 in acetonitrile led to the obtention of the title complex as characterised by xray diffraction. This salt provides a new example of the (UCp3(NCCH3)2)f5 cationic species of trigonal bipyramidal coordination and contains simultaneously as anion the first example of an AnX4.2L (An = actinides. X = C1 or Br) type complex with a cyclopentadienyl ring as donor ligand. In the anion the coordination of geometry about the thorium atom is distorted octahedral.
