Abstract

This report describes a simple model for the analysis of HTO formation following a tritium atmospheric release. In doing this, the most important removal mechanisms of the tritium compounds on the earths' surface have been taken into account. They include the deposition, diffusion into the soil, oxidation in the air and on the soil, resuspension both of HT and HTO. Different values have been assumed for the main parameters controlling the physical phenomena, allowing a sensitivity analysis to be performed, which shows the relative importance of these quantities.
