A FEM ANALYSIS OF QUASISTATIC NECKING AND LOCALIZATION USING AN ARC LENGTH METHOD
An arc length method is used to study boundary value problems involving diffuse necking and shear band localization. Two examples show that, for the constitutive law under consideration, a suitable "large" step implicit algorithm appears to be more effective than a straightforward explicit one, even in situations involving large non-proportional stress paths.
