Abstract

The paper describes the re-interpretation, for energy conservation analysis, of a data base originally created for planning purposes from 22000 samples in the region of Liguria. The building data have been re-grouped into 18 basic types and three climatic zones, though a total of 90 subtypes are available if numbers of floors in multifamily buildings are taken into account. The condition of the different building elements is given and this allows the estimation of the effectiveness of different retrofit measures to be made. These measures could be much more cost effective if carried out at the same time as other building repairs. The example calculation given shows the informative potential of this type of data base, and at the same time demonstrates the need for collection of additional data for more precise and detailed energy assessments.
