Abstract

Three density regions are relevant in the microwave heating experiments in FT: high density ion regime strongly affected by parametric decay instabilities, low density electron regime where heating and current drive effects are observed and an intermediate regime just above the density limit where electron interaction disappears. Experiments made in the last regime show that: a) the density limit itself is due to H absorption both in H and in D plasma where in the latter H is a minority; b) an upshift of the n-'' spectrum occurs which persists across the density limit.
