Abstract

This paper concentrates on the RF performance of the ICRH system with plasma coupling as parameter. Antenna resistance results are given for various heating regimes with or without carbonized wall and additional NI heating. A model is developed which describes the RF performance of the system and the matching achieved by double stub tuners. Calculations give the sensitivities of reflective to forward power ratio at the generator versus plasma coupling, leading to an improved strategy for iterative matching. A novel matching network is proposed achieving a match within a VSWR <or= 1.5 for a radiation resistance range covering the usual plasma loading change with no tuner length change but only frequency variation within the bandwidth of the generator.
